Crowd= Business Successes

What pops up to your mind first when you see this picture?
My guesses are Disneyland, California, Mickey Mouse, Walt, Disney Channel, Expensive.
Well, my first thought is..... Crowd.

I can't believe I'm actually writing about this, since this blog is not meant for Business purposes, besides, I'm not even major in Business or have any interest to pursue and analyze business movements. I have this thought just because I've been observing some customers movements and came up with this pattern. But I promise this blog post will come close to a true point that is related to the theme of this blog, BE LOUD, BE HEARD, BE YOUR TRUE-SELF.

Like I mentioned in Best Offer I love Ikea because I can save money. But I just want to be HEARD, sometimes, people are too crazy about it(not to say that going to Ikea is bad, because then I'm probably slapping myself with my words.) Sometimes people go for some decisions that are not their decisions, just because their friends chose something that they are not against, or simply has no opinion on. I mentioned the other day in Is the opinion of-majority always right? We should keep true of who we are and what decisions we make ONLY base on our OWN MIND, not someone else's. I just want to use Ikea as an example to show that crowd= Business Successes. Well, of course, other department stores apply as well, but let's just stick to Ikea for today.

If you have been to an Ikea anywhere in China or in Taiwan, and then you go to an Ikea in the states. This is what I observed. In China and Taiwan, people come in even if they have to pay for something. But, in the states, people come in because they need a furniture, or there is a free-breakfast thing going on. The value here is very different. People in China and Taiwan find Ikea great not only because we like the great deals that were mentioned in the other blog post, but also from the crowd. I find this pattern very weird and interesting. Why would people in China and Taiwan be so crazy about Ikea, but people in the states don't really care unless they need something or there's a special offer. Is it because of the view points about Ikea? I think the key point here is because of the crowd. I think it is a cultural thing. We normally seek out for where the crowd is going, and be tricked (or maybe it actually has the equvilant value) into thinking that someting has a value that maybe it does not own. We probably think if the demand of something is great then something is great of value. This happens all the time around me. When there's a new iPad coming out, people go buy it jsut because the crowd says "YES!" to it. When people are lining up in front of a drink shop, we go line up without thinking if the drink is actually good. Well, of course, I'm not saying that Ikea is bad or anything, cause I love Ikea myself very much.

I think, though, people should seek out for their TRUE-SELF and their TRUE OPINION OF THEIR OWN MIND, not someone else's. I think we should not be swayed by crowd and do not even know how we end up doing something that we didn't expect ourselves doing ever. I think that is not the spirit of ANTS. We should not compromised with other's opinion just because many others are agreeing with it. We should ALWAY SPEAK FOR OURSELVES!!

To get directly to my point today, I want to be HEARD of my view point about crowds. Crowd may bring business successes, but crowd is NOT equivalent to be great value. ALWAYS SPEAK FOR YOURSELF and SEE THE REAL TRUTH OF WHAT YOU THINK ABOUT SOMETHING, NOT WHAT OTHER'S THINK ABOUT.

I can't think of a song that relates to today's topic, but I want to share a video of the funny 100 people crowd prank in Japan. I guess many of you saw the video before, but I just want to emphasis the point I made today if you would look closely to the second and the last person that is in the video. Enjoy! :)
As always, leave me a comment about anything, or in particular what other places have you seemed to be affected by a crowd because you were forced to, or simply leave a comment below about what you think about the funny prank. :)

P.S. I would probably write some other examples that are related to this topic some time today or this week, because there are just so many good examples that show the crowd is NOT always right.
